Netarhat is a town of tourist attraction in Latehar district
of Jharkhand. Earlier it was in Palamau district. It is a plateau located at a
height of 1,071 meters above the sea level. Covered with thick forest, its expanse
is 6.4 kilometers long and 4 kilometers broad. It’s a rocky terrain, mostly
crystalline rocks and has a summit capped with sandstone trap. The highest
point is 1,127 meters above sea level.
The temperature of Netarhat is the coolest in entire
Jharkhand state and unfailingly gives a pleasant hill station experience with a
difference. You do not experience the disadvantages of usual dampness and heavy
rains of higher attitude here.

Another attraction of the place is the aboriginal tribes, Birhors
and Brijias, who are now at the verge of extinction. Some Birhors are still
seen dwelling in small leaf huts with an opening through which one can crawl inside.
They frequently shift their huts in to the jungle, where there are more fruits,
roots and animals to catch and feast on.
Netarhat is well-known for its magnificent sunrises and
sunsets during the summer months. This place has a wonderful climate and during
July and August it is arid. In summer Netarhat has a very cool climate. The
rainfall usually does not exceed 60 inches per year.
Lower Ghaghri Falls |
Netarhat has several places of tourist interests within its
periphery. Magnolia Point (an ideal site for viewing sunset), Upper Ghaghri Falls,
Lower Ghaghri Falls, Koel View Point, Lodh Falls (the highest waterfall in
Jharkhand) and Sadni Falls are all within a stone’s throw distance from this
place.
You can have a pleasant stay at Cocoon Hotel in Dhanbad, which is a premium luxury Hotel in this
region, and can have you trip arranged for Netarhat and the other adjoining
attractive places. This place is well connected from both Ranchi and Dhanbad.
